Hero Manufacturing Machine Interlude - Those Who Disturb the World - 18

Although they are being manipulated by the Empire's unreasonable conditions for the quest, they are still adventurers. The ability to choose and accept quests that suit one's abilities is an absolutely essential part of the adventurer's profession. In that sense, even if they lose their lives here, it can be said that it is their own fault in a sense. If they can't even grasp their own abilities, it is obvious that they will lose their lives in the not-too-distant future. It is painful to see commoners who cannot even protect themselves lose their lives, but it is common for adventurers who make a living from rough work to lose their lives. It is not particularly unusual. That is what I think, but I can't help but feel a sense of camaraderie as a former adventurer. Not so long ago, I was also a member of the Adventurer's Guild, earning a living day by day.

Above all, I was sure that I was the only one with the power to do something about that Keystone Beast. While thinking about various things, I steadily closed the distance between me and my enemy. I told Berseria to stay away from me. She had grown a lot since the first time I met her, but she still didn't have the skills to face that monster. As I approached the Keystone Beast, adventurers were losing their lives.

Among them was one Heavy Swordsman, whose strength was on another level. He easily wielded a claymore as tall as himself, skillfully fending off the monster's onslaught and protecting the adventurers around him.

A defensive network that could be described as a sword barrier was spread around the area where he was. I take back what I said earlier. The Heavy Swordsman wasn't the only one with great skills. From behind him, the Priestess created a barrier with magic, restricting the movements of the beast, while the Archer and Sorceress provided support for Heavy Swordsman with projectiles.

Though they weren't able to deal any damage, they were certainly successful in stalling the Keystone Beast. That alone was quite an accomplishment. I truly believed that.

I recognized the large back of the Heavy Swordsman as he boldly swung his claymore. "Doti...?" I unconsciously muttered the name of the familiar man.
