Hero Manufacturing Machine - Side Story - Female Hero Misayano - Chapter 5

The promised day. Misayano came to the training ground with her younger brother. I took a quick look at him. He looked about ten years old. He didn't look anything like Misayano. The daughter probably resembled her mother and the son his father.

"Yoo-hoo, Charles~~!" That's a very lively greeting, Misayano. I wonder if that's appropriate for a princess of a kingdom. Thinking about that, I returned the greeting. "Ah. Good day, Misaya. Is that him?" "Yes, he's my cute little brother." She replied while hugging her cute little brother. That kind of skinship seems to be a normal part of their daily life. I called out to her cute little brother.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Eucharlouch BraveLord. Call me Charles. I'm your and your sister's uncle by blood." I greeted him with a smile.

"So, this is my younger brother…"

"Saburo. I am Sabronard BraveLord. Nice to meet you today... thank you!"

He finished his greeting by adding "desu" and "onegaishimasa" as if it was an afterthought.

He doesn’t seem to have many opportunities to interact with older people and isn’t used to using polite language.

After this exchange, I was asked Sabronard to show me some movements. Hmm. As expected of Misayano's younger brother, his talents are not bad, in fact, he would be in the very good category. As someone who is not good at nurturing (even if only for a short period of time), I find him to be a very interesting talent to watch. And so, I watched his movements for a while.

"I'm sure Saburo knows about it."

Misayano says before continuing.

"It was Charles who defeated the Giant Magical Iron Golem and the demon the other day."

"Huh? Is this effeminate man the only hero left now?"

Perhaps he's gotten used to my presence, as he's starting to show his true expression.

Indeed, he has a face that strongly resembles Sanvolt, giving a masculine impression at a young age.

It's not surprising that he treats me like a girly-man. "That's why Charles is so skilled. He might even be better than Father!" As soon as Misayano said this, Sabronard's expression, which had been relaxed up until then, suddenly became grim. "What are you talking about, Misaya-nee! There's no way Father is below this girly-man!!"

Perhaps mistaking this for an insult to his father, Sabronard retorted furiously to his much older sister.

"Hey, Charles takes time out of his busy schedule to watch us practice, right? That's really rude to Charles. You should apologize to Charles."

Misayano, who is like a little sister to me, seems to act like a big sister to her younger brother. She gently scolds her much younger brother. However. Sabronard refuses to give in, saying "Father is more amazing" and "Father is the strongest man in Braidea." Misayano's face is unusually grim as Sabronard remains sulky.

Sabronard just thought his father was amazing, and Misayano was angry for my sake. It's not that either of them is in the wrong. As I'm the cause of it all, I don't want this brother who loves his father and his caring sister to fight. So I stepped in to mediate between the two. "It's okay, Misaya." I tried to calm Misayano, who was getting a little heated up. "Charles..."

Misayano cooled down after I called out to her. I crouched down and aimed my gaze at Sabronard. "That's right. It's pretty rude to compare me, a stupid prince, to Lord Sanvolt, who was the top candidate for hero ability." "That's not true... but..." He said that while looking away from me, as if he felt bad about it. I smiled gently at him.

"Although it was something Misaya said." "Yeah..." "I know that Saburo's father was a truly amazing person. There are many theories, but I think he was better than Ichabod. Is that not good enough?" There is no one in Braidea who doesn't know the name Ichabod. Although the eldest prince had many personality problems, his excellence was undoubtedly outstanding.

There's no way he wouldn't agree if I said his father was better than the eldest prince. In fact, even in my eyes, I think Sanvolt was a better hero, so it's not a lie.

"No, if you understand that, that's fine!" "I see. Thank you." After that exchange, I continue to watch Sabronard's movements. "Charles is a real adult, isn't he?"

In the middle of watching, Misayano says something like that.

"Really? I'm glad you think so, but that's not true." I myself don't think of myself as a capable person. I'm still a young, immature brat. "Really?" "Yeah."

"Oh, why do you think so?"

"I was a much bigger brat when I was that age. When I think back on it, his actions are cute." It's a completely different approach to Neal, but there's no denying that I was a brat. I never looked down on people or anything like that, but I didn't know anything about getting attached to people and was a really unlovable brat from an adult's perspective. When you consider that, Sabronard's attitude is really cute.

And the root of it all is his longing for his late father. It's not something he can be blamed for at all. "I see, your kind, Charles." "Why do you think so? I'm not particularly kind. I'm normal." "Hehe, you're embarrassed. Well, I'll leave it at that." Without a moment's hesitation, Misayano asks for my opinion. "So, Charles, what do you think? How's Saburo's skill?" "Considering his age, he's pretty good. I'm looking forward to his future." I answer without hesitation. Sabronard's future is bright. There's no doubt about that.

"Really!? I think so too, even though I’m a foolish older sister."

"I'm not going to flatter him, you know? You can trust me on that." On the other hand, if he didn't have the talent, I wouldn't be so clear about it.

I would beat around the bush, evading the question.

You can't live by just saying nice things. I'm a dirty adult. And so, while we're having this conversation, I take a quick look at Sabronard's movements and move on to today's main topic. "So, today Saburo's older sister Misaya has asked me to show you some of the Brave Arts, the secret techniques of the hero."

That said, for the time being, I will only be showing Blade Arts. It will be quite some time before Sabronard can use the bloodline-exclusive Limited Arts. "Yes." "I would never do that for a normal kid. Brave Arts are not for show." "I understand." "Today, I want Saburo to see the Brave Arts of the Hero as a candidate for the next generation of heroes. That's what I'm thinking." "Thank you."

"So, I'll show you a few Brave Arts of the hero. Flying Izuna has already been shown by Misaya, so I'll skip that." "Hmm." "Well, let's get started." "Yes." "First, Iron Slicing."

With that, I cut the prepared iron block in half with Iron Slicing. It seems that both of them had seen it before from their late father, so they didn't react well. I knew it, but it was a little sad. "Well, this is a normal Iron Slicing. It takes a bit of ingenuity, but Misaya can do this much. Isn't that right?"

"Yes." This time, it's not the younger brother, but the older sister Misayano who nods.

"So this is where it goes from here." "Yes." "Watch closely." I turn to the other lump of iron. And then I get ready. The siblings are watching my every move with bated breath. I don't get many opportunities to be watched by others, so to be honest I'm a bit embarrassed. But I can't stay embarrassed forever. "Ha!"

I unleashed a slash, slicing the iron block into small pieces in an instant. The iron block crumbled with a sound. The two of them looked at it in shock. "This is the Hero's Secret Brave Art, Iron Slicing Linked Strike. Well, there aren't many opponents that are strong enough to require me to use this." I said as I sheathed my sword.

This technique belongs to a special category among the Hero's Secret Brave Arts. It is classified as a blade art, but it is incredibly difficult to master. There are probably very few professional samurai who can use it. I had used Iron Slicing itself on the Giant Magical Iron Golem, but not this technique.

Although I used Iron Slicing in succession back then, I had used it relatively slowly. This is because it is not the kind of technique you would use on an opponent who is unable to move. This technique slashes at least three times in an instant. That's the kind of technique it is. "Awesome!!" Sabronard shouted excitedly, his eyes shining. "Awesome!! Awesome!!"

In stark contrast to how he had looked a moment ago, he now looked at me with respect. "Sensei Charles!" "S-sensei!?" I was also taken aback by his sudden promotion to Sensei. "That technique was amazing!"

Sabronard's excitement after seeing my move was extremely high.

I was also a little overwhelmed by his excitement. "Ah, ah..." "Can I use it too?!" He asked, still excited.

"You can't do it right now, but if you keep practicing like this, you'll definitely be able to do it. Well, I can't say for sure when it will happen, but I can guarantee it will." "Really?" "I'm not trying to flatter you. It's also not because Saburo is Sanvolt's son." Saying that I continued. "Saburo has talent. There's no doubt about it." "Really?" "Yeah."

"He's really grown attached to you." "Yeah..." "I told you, right? That Charles is amazing." Misyano says putting both hands on her hips and looking proud for some reason.

In contrast to my troubled face, Misayano looked as if she was saying, "How is it? Are you impressed?" As for her brother's reaction to his sister, he was like, "I thought you were exaggerating because you're Misaya." Sabronard continued after saying that. "I didn't think you'd be this amazing." He said that.

Anyway, it seemed that I was recognized as a senior. "Well, it seems the siblings have made up." I said, feeling that the matter was settled. "Shall I continue?" "Yes!" And so, I continued to demonstrate several Blade Arts. After that. "Misaya-nee."

"What?"

"Thank you so much for bringing me here today!" Sabronard started to say that. "Hmm, you were really resistant before I brought you here, but you're awfully obedient now, aren't you?" As she said this, Misayano had a slightly mischievous look on her face. So she can even show this kind of face. It was a bit surprising. "I'm really glad I met Sensei Charles!"

However, her younger brother Sabronard didn't seem particularly bothered. That's how shocking meeting me must have been for him. After this, I continued practicing with the two of them and had a great time.
